We Teach AI the Way Understanding Actually Forms
Samong Lab is an online school for AI development, built around structured learning and genuine mentor contact. We work with students across Thailand and the region.
Back to HomeHow Samong Lab Began
Samong Lab was founded in Bangkok in 2021 by a small group of engineers and educators who shared one observation: most AI learning resources moved either too fast for beginners or assumed context that many working professionals simply did not have.
The name comes from the Thai word for brain — สมอง — which shaped the school's guiding idea: that learning should follow the brain's natural process of forming connections, not cramming in abstractions.
The programmes were written from scratch, tested with early cohorts, and refined over two years before the school opened to wider enrolment. Every adjustment since has come from learner feedback and instructor observation — not from what looks best in a curriculum document.
What We Stand For
Clarity over speed
We would rather a learner takes ten weeks to genuinely understand a concept than rush through it in five.
Honest instruction
Our instructors do not oversell what a course will do. They tell you what you will learn, what you will need to practise, and what comes next.
Structure that serves the learner
The curriculum is designed as a connected whole. Each course ends where the next one begins.
The Teaching Team
Each instructor at Samong Lab works in the field as well as teaching — which means the material stays grounded in real practice.
Krit Suwannaphat
Lead Instructor, AI Engineering
ML engineer with eight years building production systems. Leads the Advanced AI Engineering programme and mentors senior cohorts.
Arisa Thongchai
Curriculum Director, Data Science
Researcher and course designer behind the Data & Model Building programme. Focuses on how learners move from theory to practice.
Nattawut Phrakhun
Foundations Instructor, Python
Software developer and educator who built the Programming Essentials curriculum. Known for explaining complex ideas through simple, working code examples.
How We Maintain Quality
Each programme is reviewed on a rolling cycle. Nothing stays on the syllabus simply because it was there last term.
Curriculum Review Cycle
Every course is reviewed after each cohort. Assignments that cause persistent difficulty are redesigned, not just flagged.
Code Review in Every Course
Learners receive structured feedback on their code — not just a pass/fail mark. This is built into the schedule, not optional.
Data Protection
Student records and contact details are stored securely and never shared for commercial purposes. Compliant with Thai PDPA standards.
Instructor Verification
All instructors are vetted for both technical competence and the ability to communicate clearly to learners at different stages.
Cohort Feedback Process
A structured feedback form goes out at the midpoint and end of every course. Responses directly inform the next revision cycle.
Responsible AI Ethics
Ethics and responsible deployment are covered as core content, not electives — especially in the Advanced programme where real-world impact is considered.
AI Education with Depth and Accountability
Samong Lab operates at the intersection of software engineering and teaching craft. The field of AI development moves quickly, and a school's curriculum can fall behind if it is not maintained with the same discipline applied to the software itself. We treat our courses the way a good engineer treats a codebase — with regular reviews, deliberate refactoring, and a clear log of changes.
Our learners come from a wide range of starting points: working developers looking to move into machine learning, analysts who want to understand the models they work with, and career-changers who are approaching programming for the first time. Each programme is written with a specific starting point in mind, so you are not expected to fill in gaps the course does not address.
Bangkok has a growing community of engineers working with AI tools, and Samong Lab is one part of that broader effort — focused on building depth rather than surface-level familiarity. Our programmes are online, but cohort-based, which means you move through the material alongside people at a similar stage and have regular contact with instructors throughout.
